<p>Today is going to be a long and depressing day. Long days in the car aren’t bad when you are starting a trip, when you are full of anticipation and excitement about going somewhere new or doing something different. But when you are going home, when all the fun is over and another year of [&hellip;]</p>

<p>A few horrible intense coughing fits in the middle of the night, but I did probably manage to get more sleep than I’ve been getting. At least I feel less zombie like this morning. The amount of dew on our tents when we woke up was incredible. If it had rained overnight our tents might [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Again, I got little sleep. I was up most of the night coughing. I’ve coughed so much that I pulled a muscle in my side. At some point though I must have gotten some sleep because I had a disturbing dream. I had a research paper due. It wasn’t long and it didn’t require many [&hellip;]</p>

<p>My family went to Culver’s for dinner last night and I asked them to bring me back a salad. Not cheese curds. Not frozen custard. Salad. That should give you an indication of how crappy I felt. The mucinex helped a bit. It kept me relatively cough free until six o’clock when I woke with [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Day 16 I didn’t sleep nearly enough. We went to bed at ten, but at one, I was still trying to fall asleep. Our alarms went off at a quarter after four so that we could get up to Copper Harbor in time for our ferry. I don’t feel well. I have a cough and [&hellip;]</p>

<p>I did not sleep well last night. I kept waking up and struggling to fall back to sleep. At least, since we have nothing to rush off to today, I got to sleep in till 7:30. I read for nearly an hour and then woke G3 up. He’s been wanting to play catch, but we [&hellip;]</p>

<p>After an hour, the trailer finally stopped making noise and I was able to fall asleep. It rained, but not like the thunder and clouds promised. The rain—a medium rain—lasted only five minutes, maybe ten. Siskiwit Campground is definitely one I will never return to. Oh, and the mosquitoes were blood thirsty suckers both last [&hellip;]</p>

<p>We got to bed late last night. Sitting around the campfire was so enjoyable none of us wanted the evening to end. Therefore, when my alarm went off, no one wanted to get up. But we did. We broke camp quickly and were on the road by 7:30. We are heading to Grand Portage, back [&hellip;]</p>

<p>I slept better than I expected last night. It was cold—52 degrees when I went to bed. I just woke up and while I am warm in my sleeping bag, listening to the wind makes me not want to get up. It is still cold this morning. It feels like late fall. We drove down [&hellip;]</p>

<p>It rained again overnight. We woke up early and looking out the window, I could see puddles in the parking lot. Now, however, the sky has patches of blue. Hopefully, the clouds will all disperse as we continue west to Thunder Bay. Last night Kati was asleep early. This morning, her knee is badly swollen. [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Day 8 Driving back from dinner last night, a young black bear ran across the road. Kati slammed on her brakes to avoid hitting her. I reached for my phone to take a picture, but I wasn’t fast enough. Hopefully, that will be our only bear encounter this trip. Once we returned to camp, we [&hellip;]</p>

<p>I woke up early this morning and walked down to the beach to watch the sunrise. Watching the sun come up is always one of my favorite things to do on vacation. I love being out and about and feeling like I am alone in the world. It was chilly once I wiggled out of [&hellip;]</p>

<p>My alarm sounded early this morning since we have a long drive ahead of us to Sault Ste. Marie and we want time to properly explore it this afternoon. Not knowing when we will next be able to shower, we showered before having another bland breakfast at the hotel. In the States we have this [&hellip;]</p>

<p>One big advantage to staying in a hotel is that we get to start the day with a shower. It’s nice to feel clean. G3 and I also changed our shirts. Kati is a little better at changing more frequently. Before heading out for the day, we grabbed breakfast at the hotel. It was bland [&hellip;]</p>

<p>I am really bummed about leaving that campsite. It’s not even like we live close enough to return for a long weekend. Oh well, more adventure awaits and that’s what is important. This morning we are heading to Georgian Bay National Park. Last night, I spoke to my brother. He is visiting Mom and had [&hellip;]</p>

<p>I overslept. Knowing I generally wake up early while camping, I foolishly did not set my alarm. But last night I didn’t sleep well. I was up late trying to make plans and reservations for the next week. Mostly, I was successful, but by the time I shut the phone down to sleep my brain [&hellip;]</p>

<p>I didn’t sleep well last night. It was too hot in the room and I couldn’t adjust the air conditioner to make it cooler. Before leaving Niagara Falls, we stopped in at the Maple Leaf Place, a shop designed to snag tourists and make them part with cash. Obviously, everything in the shop is maple [&hellip;]</p>

<p>We left this morning for our annual summer road trip. However, our excitement is seriously dampened because it looks like we will not get to the one place we wanted to explore, the one place we had our hearts set on. Months of planning will all be for naught because it didn’t occur to us [&hellip;]</p>

<p>The problem with summer camp is I am surrounded by kids. Let me clarify—I am a teacher in the midst of my two month break from students and I am surrounded by other children. Some of these scouts are fantastic and I greatly enjoy conversing with them. But others are loud, and rude, and aggressive. [&hellip;]</p>

<p>It is a gorgeous morning—blue sky and a cool breeze. But it is the coldest morning we’ve had, which seems to be just right considering my luck. In about twenty minutes, I will be diving into the lake with G3 and who knows how many others to attempt the mile swim. Today, by far, has [&hellip;]</p>
