Off the Page

Though I live in New Jersey, I am from New York.  I grew up in Queens and spent many summers on the beaches of the North Fork in Long Island. I have a passion for travel and have backpacked to six continents and I have camped throughout much of the United States. These experiences have brought me in contact with various cultures and have inspired much of my writing. Along with traveling, I also enjoy hiking, swimming, and visiting historic sites.​​​​

I have one teenage son with whom I enjoy spending time when he lets me. Three years ago, I adopted my first cat. One quickly became three, and I am at a loss to understand how I survived nearly five decades without a cat. They are quirky, cuddly, and I write best when one of them is curled up purring on my desk.

 

After years of hating school, I fell in love with learning at the graduate level. I earned an MFA in creative writing from Fairleigh Dickinson University, an MA in history from William Paterson University, and an MA in education from New York University.

I am autistic and a genderqueer lesbian. I use the pronouns she/her.
